UYACHO

The Ummul Yatym orphan Children's Home (UYACHO), short report of it's existence (since 1999)

The Ummul Yatym orphan Children's Home (UYACHO), the non-govermential organisation, was legally established in December 1998 with reg. no. 10203 under critical supervision of Saade Suleiman, the executive director.

Since then, the organisation has been helping children, particularly the orphans as well as those living in vulnerable situations by providing them with shelter, food, school equipment and health care.

The above organisation continue operating due to support the good support from Denmark whose efforts facilitate the organisation's existence whereby financial and social assistance such as 20 matresses, ten tables, ten chairs, sports and games facilities, hats (TNT), bed sheets for both children and adults, portable chalkboard, ties, bags (TNT), pencils, pens, clothes, papers, toys, rulers, padlocks and more have always been provided to the organisation.

Furthermore, the organisation since it's existence has managed to raise the children's living standard such as that 5 children, financed by the organisation, joined the Vocational Training (VETA), 10 children joined the secondary schools, 20 children joined both private and goverment schools, and 10 children joined the kindergarten studies.

It is also due to organisation efforts that led to the establishments of the cowshed; this being the sustainable economic project for the organisation.

Despite the succes, the organisation lacks the build the children's dormitory as well as the dinning hall where food may be supplied to children during the supper and lunch times. In some instances, the children's properties are sometimes stolen because the security is minimal due to the fact that their dormitory is not fenced.

Lastly, the organisation requests the following from the donors in order to keep on operating:

1. A proper standardised children's dormitory for them to live in a conducive enviroment, the barbed wires for the fence in order to improve security. 2. A well established handcraft factory that would provide manual work skills to children such as carpentry and bakery in order to raise the economic strength af the organisation.
